Date Sold 5/18/2014 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 10 Original Vintage Theatrical Dutch 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Gycklarnas Afton (released in the U.S. in 1956 as "Sawdust and Tinsel" and "The Naked Night"), the classic 1953 Ingmar Bergman Swedish circus romantic love triangle infidelity melodrama ("The girl that will have the whole town talking!") starring Harriet Andersson (billed as "introducing Harriet Andersson exciting new continental discovery"), Ake Gronberg, Hasse Ekman, Anders Ek, Gudrun Brost, and Annika Tretow. Note that when Ingmar Bergman became famous worldwide in the late 1950s after the release of "The Seventh Seal", his earlier movies were released or re-released with English language titles. I have always seen this movie referred to as "Sawdust and Tinsel", but I have never seen a vintage movie poster with that title. The movie WAS released in the U.S. in 1956 under the title "The Naked Night", but no one I know refers to it in that way. Therefore, we are listing this movie as Sawdust and Tinsel, even though we have not auctioned any posters with that title, because people know what movie we are referring to! Please do not bid on this lot thinking you will receive 10 different stills. SUPER IMPORTANT! THOUGH ONLY EIGHT OF THE STILLS ARE PICTURED, THE HIGH BIDDER ON THIS LOT WILL RECEIVE 10 STILLS FROM THIS MOVIE (but realize that on some of these lots with 9 or more stills there may be a few duplicates, mostly on post-1960 lots)! We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on this lot unless you can accept that you are only seeing eight of the stills. Note that these stills measure 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm]. Condition: good. Each still has a faint embossed foreign stamp in one corner and several pinholes in each corner that have mostly been repaired with tape from the back but are otherwise in pretty nice condition.
