An Original Vintage Folded Stage Show One-Sheet Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Hank Keene and His Radio Gang, the circa 1925 stage show (presented by the National Broadcasting Co. [NBC]; "The World's Greatest Tented Theatre") featuring Hank Keene ("and His Radio Gang with Elmer") in person, and "added attraction" Sunshine Sammy Morrison (billed as "The Dancing Kid Star of OUR GANG comedies SUNSHINE SAMMY Warner Bros. Colored Boy Picture Star"). Note that this poster says "Sunday, July 19". There was one of those in 1925, 1936, and in 1942. Based on where this poster originated, and the other posters that were found with it, we believe it is likely from 1925, especially because Sunshine Sammy left the "Our Gang" movies in 1926, and we don't think it is possible that he would have been appearing in 1936 or later under that billing. Apparently, Hank Keene was one of the earliest radio comedians, and he was either billed as "Hank Keene & His Radio Gang", or as "Hank and Elmer with the Original Barn Dance Comedians" (we don't know which came first). He apparently was most popular in 1925 and 1926, and his shows were broadcast on the National Broadcasting Company's radio network (NBC), and since NBC was first created in the early 1920s, and truly became national in 1925, he was among the first radio comedians. We have been unable to find out additional information about Hank Keene, or this poster. If anyone knows more, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. Note that the top area with the theater name and play dates is a snipe that has been glued over the original printed theater name and play dates. Obviously, this show toured from city to city. There is some faint staining in the top 2" of the poster, but overall, it is in pretty nice condition, especially considering its age! Learn More about condition grades
