An Original 1929 Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

Spione (released in the U.S in 1929 as "Spies" and released in England as "The Spy"), the classic 1928 Fritz Lang German silent spy espionage crime thriller (based on the novel by Thea von Harbou; a massively complex story of a beautiful Russian spy who convinces a German army officer to betray his country by paying him; her employer is the head of a massive spy organization operating throughout Germany; meanwhile, the head of the German Secret Service is after the head of the spy group, and he assigns his best agent, known only as "Number 326" to catch him, and when the head of the spy group learns about the agent, he assigns the female spy to stop him, but they end up falling in love with each other, and that only begins to cover the many plots included in this movie!) starring Rudolf Klein-Rogge, Gerda Maurus, Lien Dyers, Louis Ralph, Craighall Sherry, Willy Fritsch (as Number 326), Lupu Pick, and Fritz Rasp

Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from the first U.S. release of this classic Fritz Lang movie is beyond rare! We auctioned an entire set of lobby cards 22 years ago, and a single card from that set was reconsigned to us 4 years ago, but other than that, we never sold any first release U.S. movie paper, not even a still. Now we have been consigned two first release U.S. stills (which we are auctioning in two separate auctions), and they both have the studio printing on the back that guarantees they are surely from the 1929 first U.S. release!

Condition: very good. There is a tiny brown stain in the upper left blank border and some small areas of surface emulsion loss in the lower left blank border. Otherwise, the still is in really excellent condition!
