An Original Vintage Linenbacked English World War I Poster (measures 9 3/4" x 60" [25 x 152 cm]) (Learn More)

Don't Lag! Follow Your Flag, the 1915 English World War I (WWI) recruitment poster encouraging men to enlist in the military. Note that this poster features the flags of Britain, France, Belgium and Russia (specifically the Russian Navy Ensign, also known as St Andrews's flag).

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had was backed onto a thin linen with no excess. This was surely done for conservation rather than restoration, because it was in excellent condition prior to linenbacking. However, after it was backed, it was roughly handled, and there is now a vertical fold in the poster along the edge of the border by "FOLLOW" (see our image), and it is also separating from the thin linen (it could be easily removed from that thin linen and re-backed, or displayed as it is.
