An Original Vintage Exhibitor Magazine (measures 12 1/4" x 17" [31 x 43 cm]; 16 pages) (Learn More) Fox: The Last Word, the weekly newspaper magazine distributed by Fox Films to their chain of theaters (in the 1920s and 1930s, the studios each owned major chains of theaters, and they would only show their own movies in those theaters; at some point in the 1930s, this was ruled to be a monopoly, and the studios were forced to sell their theaters to independent entities, and the theaters could not have a monopoly on the product from a specific studio). The Last Word was first published on June 28, 1930, and was published at least throughout that year. The newspaper magazine was aimed specifically at the theater owners it was sent to, and contained many technical articles about promoting movies, more efficiently running theaters, etc., and there were some artwork advertisements for upcoming movies included as well. I have seen individual issues, but I have also seen bound volumes. This auction is for a bound volume for the 27 weekly issues from June 28, 1930 (the first issue) through December 27, 1930, which belonged to the president and general manager of the Fox West Coast theaters, Harold B.
