A Damsel in Distress, the 1937 George Stevens Americans-in-England romantic musical comedy ("Music by George Gershwin"; "Lyrics by Ira Gershwin"; "From the story by P.G. Wodehouse"; oddly, this was a remake of a 1919 movie based on a P.G. Wodehouse story, with much music by George and Ira Gershwin; the grafting of musical comedy onto a serious story was not received well at the box office, but the movie is worth seeing for its great star power) starring Fred Astaire, George Burns & Gracie Allen (Burns & Allen of 1950s TV fame!), Joan Fontaine, Reginald Gardiner, Ray Noble, Constance Collier, Montagu Love, and Harry Watson

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and some fine surface paper loss on parts of some foldlines. There was a second horizontal crease just below the left half of the middle horizontal fold and a second horizontal foldline just below the regular bottom horizontal fold. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
