An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Movie Window Card (WC; measures 13 1/2" x 20 1/2" [34 x 52 cm]) (Learn More) Broken Chains, the 1922 Allen Holubar silent romantic love triangle melodrama ("The Chicago Daily News Prize Winning story 'Broken Chains' by Winifred Kimball"; about a city boy who gets a job as a lumberjack in the West, and he falls for Colleen Moore, who has an abusive husband, and after much turmoil, he kills her husband and wins her love) starring Colleen Moore, Claire Windsor, Malcolm McGregor, Ernest Torrence and James A. Marcus. Note that supposedly the Chicago Daily News held a contest for a movie story and paid the winner, Winifred Kimball, $30,000 for the rights to the story. However, that seems unbelievable as that is $513,400 in 2022 dollars ($7334 per minute of the movie). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Note that this poster is linenbacked, and normally we would send linenbacked posters rolled in a tube, but because this is a very small poster, and because rolling it might caused it to have creases, we intend to send it in a flat package instead (however, if the purchaser of this poster also purchases other linen posters, and absolutely wants us to send it rolled with those other linens, we will do so). The card had pinholes, tears, smudges, stains, and small paper loss around the edges. Someone linenbacked the card and performed restoration to the above defects. Overall, the window card was in good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
