Date Sold 4/3/2014Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1950 (from the first release of this movie in Japan) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Japanese "B2" Movie Poster (measures 20" x 28 1/2" [51 x 72 cm]) (Learn More) Adventures of Don Juan (also released as "The New Adventures of Don Juan"), the 1949 Vincent Sherman swashbuckler romantic adventure thriller ("He made history when he made love!"; "Warner Bros. unfolds a new screen era in breathless adventure!"; "Warner Bros. open a new screen era in splendor!"; note that IMDB lists William Faulkner as an uncredited writer for this movie) starring Errol Flynn (in the title role as Don Juan), Viveca Lindfors (as Queen Margaret), Robert Douglas, Alan Hale Sr., Romney Brent, Ann Rutherford, Raymond Burr (early in his career, and 16th billed!), and Jerry Austin (a "little person" who had a tiny role in "Freaks" in 1932, and then made four small movie appearances in the late 1940s). Note that Raymond Burr had appeared in movies a couple of years before this, but always had minor roles, usually playing the "heavy". It would be many years before he would get leading roles (remember him as the killer in "Rear Window"?), but his big break did not come until 1957 when he became TV's "Perry Mason"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that, immediately after World War II, the U.S. occupied Japan, and many American movies were shown in the late 1940s (until some point in 1950). All of the Japanese posters we have seen from that period have a "Motion Picture Export Association" circular printed logo on the poster, and this only seems to be on these late 1940s posters. Since there were many U.S. servicemen in Japan at this time, these posters have the title written in both Japanese and in English, and they are from the first Japanese release, and such posters from right after World War II are incredibly rare!
