An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Affaire in Rio de Janeiro, the 1972 Carlos Tobalina Brazilian/Peruvian/U.S. prostitution drugs voodoo incest sexploitation movie ("'Affaire in Rio de Janiero' is considered by world critics as of the 10 best pictures."; "Filmed entirely on location including a luxurious Rio bordello. Where Claude Mattel (Carlos Tobalina) meets beautiful Sonia (Phyllis Claire). In the middle of a hot affair, they discover they are father & daughter. He is shocked- She enticed"; a really wild story of a man who goes to Rio and goes to a house of prostitution, and falls in love with one of the girls who works there, and he takes her away, but later discovers she is actually his daughter, so he ends their relationship, and then she dopes him with a combination of LSD, cocaine, morphine, barbiturates and amphetamines, which puts him in a zombie-like state, which makes him obey any command, and after that experience, he tries to kill himself, so his daughter takes him to a woman who is a voodoo master to put a spell on him, and everything works out in the end because they discover that she is not really his daughter after all) starring Phyllis Claire, Carlos Tobalina, Maria Pia, Luigi Felleni, and Gerry Gordon. Note that this was likely the Citizen Kane of sexploitation movies, and that director Carlos Tobalina was another Orson Welles, because he not only produced, wrote, and directed the movie, he also starred in it, and he also did the photography and the editing, and composed the theme music (and the movie was filmed in TOBA SCOPE and the sound was recorded in TOBA PHONIC sound, his patented system). Note that this was the director's seventh movie, but he went on to direct 45 in all, acting in over half of them, and some of them have very interesting titles like "I Am Curious Tahiti" and "I Am Always Ready". Artist: Ecaleri Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. There is marker writing on the center of the back cover, but the pressbook is otherwise in nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
