An Original Vintage German Cigarette Card Album (measures 7" x 8" [18 x 20 cm]; contains 59 cards on 15 pages) (Learn More) Die Nibelungen: Siegfried & Kriemhilds Rache (parts 1 & 2), the 1924 Fritz Lang German silent sword-and-sorcery fantasy adventure melodrama (this was a re-telling of the story of the greatest of ancient German folk heroes, Siegfried; Lang had so much material that he split it into two movies; both movies were scripted by Fritz Lang and long-time Lang collaborator Thea von Harbou) starring Paul Richter (in the title role as Siegfried), Margarete Schon (as Princess Kriemhild of Burgund), Hans Adalbert Schlettow (as Hagen of Tronje), Bernhard Goetzke (as Volker of Alzey), Gertrud Arnold (as Queen Ute of Burgund), Hanna Ralph (as Queen Brunhild of Isenland), Theodor Loos (as King Gunther of Burgund), Erwin Biswanger (as Giselher of Burgund), Hans Carl Muller (as Gerenot of Burgund), Fritz Alberti (as Dietrich of Bern), Georg August Koch (as Hildebrandt, the sword master), Rudolf Rittner (as Margrave Rudiger of Bechlarn), and Rudolf Klein-Rogge (as King Etzel) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this REALLY cool album contains 59 (there were originally 75) cigarette cards from the Constantin Cigaretten company, a German cigarette company. Unlike many similar albums we have seen, the cards are not simply glued in to the assigned spaces. Instead, there are 75 numbered die-cut areas where you could insert all 75 of the cards, and the title of the movie is written in a cool script on the first page above the first card. Each of the pages has two holes at the spine and they are joined by a rope, which also goes through a cool printed cover with an embossed title and shield beneath it. You can't see it from our pictures, but each of the cards has the cigarette company's information printed on the back, along with the number of the card, so you would know where to insert it in the album. Either the albums were sold with the cards inserted, or more likely, you bought the blank album and then had to collect the cards one by one and fill it yourself. As noted above, this album is designed to contain all 75 cards, but 16 are missing (or the collector never put them in). ALSO NOTE THAT UNTIL WE WERE CONSIGNED THIS ALBUM, WE THOUGHT THAT THIS ONLY CAME IN ONE VERSION, WHICH MEASURED 10" x 12 3/4", AND ALSO CONTAINED 75 CARDS. BUT THE VERSION OFFERED HERE IS MUCH SMALLER (7" x 8"), AND THE CARDS CONTAINED WITHIN ARE ALSO MUCH SMALLER (approximately 1 1/2" x 2 1/2"). This is the first time we have been consigned this smaller album! Condition: fair to good. 16 cards are either missing or were never found by the person who assembled the album. There is scuffing on the covers and some faint staining on several of the cards (but other of the cards are in nice condition).
