It was founded in 1955 in what was East Berlin, as a counterpart of the famous Berlin Zoological Garden in West Berlin. Tierpark Berlin is located in Friedrichsfelde on the former grounds of Friedrichsfelde Palace, which is situated within the zoo. It is the largest zoo in Europe, and features over 8000 animals (from 650 species) on 160 hectares. Artist: Soest Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this poster! Also note that when you look at this poster in person, it is hard to believe it is not from the 1930s! That is because it was printed in 1986 (it may have also been used earlier in the 1960s and 1970s) with an intentional "retro" design, inspired by the great 1930s German zoo posters.
