An Original Vintage Theatrical 7 3/4" x 9 3/4" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

Tell it to the Marines, the 1926 George W. Hill silent United States Marine Corps (USMC) military war romantic love triangle adventure comedy melodrama ("Made with the co-operation and endorsement of the U.S. Marine Corps"; about a tough Marine Sergeant who helps turn a spoiled young man into a "man", while both of them pursue a beautiful Navy nurse) starring Lon Chaney Sr., William Haines, Warner Oland, Eleanor Boardman, Eddie Gribbon, and Carmel Myers. Note that the technical adviser was Marine Corps Gen. Smedley Butler, and he and star Lon Chaney became great friends, and that lasted after the movie until Chaney's unfortunate death in 1930 (the director on this film, George W. Hill, and his co-star William Haines were both pallbearers at his funeral). Urban legend has it that the great success of this movie caused enlistments into the Marines to rise drastically, and the plot of this movie was "borrowed" for several World War II movies!
