Ernest Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls, the 1943 Sam Wood romantic Spanish Civil War adventure melodrama ("From the celebrated novel by Ernest Hemingway"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Gary Cooper (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Robert Jordan), Ingrid Bergman (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; "as Maria"), Akim Tamiroff (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; "as Pablo"), Arturo de Cordova, Joseph Calleia, Katina Paxinou (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; "as Pilar"), Vladimir Sokoloff, and Mikhail Rasumny

Condition: good. The poster had small paper loss at the bottom two crossfolds and creases and tiny tears in much of the vertical foldline and in the right half of the middle horizontal foldline. It had minor wear on the other folds and pinholes, creases, and tears around the edges of the poster. The right 1 1/2" of the poster was folded back at one time. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer did very little restoration to the above foldline defects. If I owned this poster, I would surely have additional restoration performed, either with or without re-backing the poster.
