A Vintage English Softcover Book (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; 24 pages) (Learn More)

The Cinema, the English trade newspaper catering to the British film industry from 1912 until 1975. It was very similar to The Hollywood Reporter in the U.S., in that it was published daily for many years, but occasionally they would publish special issues, and some of those were really large, and were filled with ads for then current movies. Very few pre-World War II examples of this newspaper exist (likely because of English paper shortages during World War II, and also because they were treated like old newspapers), and even fewer examples of their special issues exist!
Important Added Info: Note that in addition to their newspapers, this magazine published this special square bound softcover book in June 1954, which was "A 21st Birthday Tribute to Columbia Pictures Corp. Ltd.", and the book is a tribute to the studio, with many ads from English companies congratulating Columbia. There are also ads and articles about their then-current productions, which include From Here to Eternity, The Caine Mutiny, Mr. Magoo, and a number of others. We have never auctioned this book before! Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and several interior 2-page spreads.

Condition: very good to fine. The book is in really nice condition!
