Zanuck"; about a light-skinned black African American girl who passes for white, and the complications that ensue; 20th Century Fox massively diluted the power of the story by casting a white actress in the lead role, and they were obviously scared of the subject matter, for the posters only make reference to it in an oblique way) starring Jeanne Crain (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Patricia "Pinky" Johnson), Ethel Barrymore (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Ethel Waters (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), William Lundigan, Griff Barnett, and Frederick O'Neal (in his debut role). Note that John Ford directed a short amount of this film before being replaced by Elia Kazan, who claims to have re-shot all of Ford's material. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Note that there is a V-shaped tear in the right end of the top foldline that was repaired with tape from the back (it is entirely in the solid black background).
