eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 4w811 RACING STRAIN 3sh '33 stone litho of Wally Reid Jr. & Phyllis Barrington over race cars! Date Sold 2/23/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) The Racing Strain, the 1933 Jerome Storm automobile car racing sports melodrama ("A romance in the bluegrass") starring Wallace Reid Jr. (billed as "Wally Reid Jr."), Phyllis Barrington, Dickie Moore ("courtesy of Hal Roach"), Mae Busch, J. Farrell MacDonald, Kit Guard, Donald Reed, Paul Fix, Eddie Phillips, and Otto Yamaoka. Note that "Wally Reid Jr." was the son of legendary silent actor Wallace Reid, who died in 1923 of a drug overdose after becoming addicted to morphine after being injured during the making of a film. Wally appeared in two films as a toddler with his dad, and then got his big break with the lead in this movie when he was just 16, but his career pretty much fizzled out after this, and he only appeared in nine more movies, many very minor parts. However, he lived until 1990, having two wives (the second at age 62!), and he had four children with his first wife and two with his second! Also note that Dickie Moore was appearing in Our Gang comedies at this time, and he was hired to play the star as a young boy, and his billing said "courtesy of Hal Roach" after his name. Several of the other actors were well known from their work in silent pictures! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this poster before! Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 4 sections designed to overlap. Condition: fair to good. There is paper loss in the upper part of the left vertical fold, in the top of the girl's blouse. The poster is very fragile and there are separations, tiny tears, and tiny areas of paper loss on parts of many foldlines, with a few tiny areas of paper loss in other areas. The poster is mostly "all there", and after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will look great. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its very significant defects and are willing to pay to have them properly restored! Learn More about condition grades
