An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian Two-Panel (known in Italy as a "4 Fogli") Movie Poster (2p; measures 55" x 78" [140 x 198 cm]) (Learn More) 21 Days (released in the U.S. as "21 Days Together"), the 1940 Basil Dean English romantic crime murder thriller ("Excitingly Together!"; with a screenplay partly by Graham Greene, "Based on a story by John Galsworthy"; a man is accused of murder, and is given 21 days to prepare for his trial, and during that time he falls in love, and his girlfriend at first believes he is innocent, but as the days pass, she begins to have doubts) starring Vivien Leigh, Laurence Olivier, Leslie Banks, Francis L. Sullivan, and David Horne. Note that this film was completed in 1937 but was not released until after the success of Vivien Leigh in Gone with the Wind and Laurence Olivier in Wuthering Heights (and they had also recently divorced their respective spouses and married each other). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: F. Matticari Important Added Info: Note that this poster is surely from the first Italian release, and it has a "ROMA - MILANO - 1940" in the bottom left, but then it has "- XVIII", which would seem to be "18" in Roman numerals, so we don't know what that means, but our best guess would be that the movie was released in Italy in 1940 (the movie was released in England in January, and in June, Italy declared war on England, but it seems quite reasonable this movie would have opened there in those months before they went to war against each other!). If anyone knows more about when this movie was first released in Italy, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that it is difficult to accurately date Italian posters, and some unmarked re-release posters can be extremely difficult to distinguish from first releases, so please bear that in mind before you place a bid. We used our best information to date this poster, but we can't always guarantee that the Italian posters we sell are not from an unmarked re-release, but this will only prove to be true in a very tiny number of cases. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at just a few crossfolds and a very few creases, scuffs, and tiny tears on parts of some foldlines. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, but it was roughly handled after it was backed, and it received severe creases down the left and right sides. In the left side, it only affects the excess linen, but on the right side, it also affects part of the right blank border, where there are now creases scattered down that blank border. There are also tears and areas of paper loss in the excess linen down the right side. None of this will show if the poster is framed, and the poster itself it in really nice condition, except for that creasing in the right blank border. Learn More about condition grades
