An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More)

the 1952 double-bill release of Red River, the classic 1948 Howard Hawks Texas romantic family relationship cattle drive cowboy western ("There was glory at one end - fury at the other - and nothing but danger in between!"; "Howard Hawks who gave you 'Scarface' and 'Sergeant York' now brings you The Greatest Story The West Ever Told!"; "In 25 Years - Only Three! Covered Wagon, Cimarron, and now... Red River"; "Blazing in its action - thundering in its drama - stirring in the sweep of its fabulous production!"; "From the original Saturday Evening Post story 'The Chisholm Trail' by Borden Chase") starring John Wayne, Montgomery Clift, Walter Brennan, Joanne Dru, Harry Carey Sr., Coleen Gray, John Ireland, Noah Beery Jr., Paul Fix, and Harry Carey Jr. Note that this movie was filmed in 1946, but was held back so as to not interfere with the major delayed 1946 release of "The Outlaw", co-directed by Howard Hawks (although Howard Hughes took all the credit!). It was intended to be Montgomery Clift's first movie, but this delay caused it to be released after "The Search", making it his second movie. Also, Clift and Wayne had very differing political views, and did not take to each other at all, but that likely helped the movie, since their characters were at odds with each other through almost the entire movie AND Tulsa, the 1949 Stuart Heisler Oklahoma oil woman melodrama ("Tempestuous Loves! Lusty Adventures! Violent Hates!"; "Meet Cherokee Lansing ...half wildcat ...half angel, All Woman!"; "The lusty, brawling saga of a city of adventure!"; "Suggested by a story by Richard Wormser"; about the daughter of an Oklahoma rancher whose father is killed in a feud with an oil company, and she starts her own oil company at first for revenge, but then she becomes obsessed with becoming more and more powerful) starring Susan Hayward, Robert Preston, Pedro Armendariz, Chill Wills, Lloyd Gough, Edward Begley, Jimmy Conlin, and Roland Jack

Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was folded across the middle and there is some wear around the edges and along the fold.
