An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Toy Wife, the 1938 Richard Thorpe Louisiana historical romantic love triangle melodrama ("She said, 'Make the most of life and love'"; about a disturbed but beautiful 16 year-old girl who inflicts misery, first by stealing her sister's fiance and then being unfaithful to him after he marries her, and being a terrible mother to their child) starring Luise Rainer, Melvyn Douglas, Robert Young, Barbara O'Neil, and H.B. Warner. Note that Luise Rainer, who had won back to back Best Actress Oscars in 1936 and 1937, was solely offered parts like this after those wins, and she became disenchanted with Hollywood, and retired from the movies the year this movie was made. She made a few non-Hollywood movies over the rest of her life. Getting away from Hollywood obviously agreed with her, because she passed away in 2014 at the age of 104! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. There is a small tear in the right of the top border and a diagonal crease in the top right corner. The back of the card has slightly darkened. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
