Date Sold 12/20/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Jail Bait, the 1954 Edward D. Wood Jr. (Ed Wood) bad girl crime thriller ("Danger!.. These Girls are Hot!"; "Stay Away From Them... They're Jail Bait!"; "Find the woman... the men can't be far away!"; "Original Screenplay by Alex Gordon and Edward D. Wood, Jr.") starring Dolores Fuller, Lyle Talbot, Steve Reeves, Theodora Thurman, John Martin, Scott McCloud, Bud Osborne, Timothy Farrell, Mona McKinnon, Herbert Rawlinson, and Clancy Malone. Note that Timothy Farrell is completely forgotten today, but he had a fascinating life. He worked for 26 years for the Los Angeles County Marshal's Office, and was a movie actor at the same time! He mostly worked on low budget movies, including several for Ed Wood, although he did play a bailiff in the 1954 "A Star is Born", which was the ultimate typecasting, because he himself had been a bailiff, but he eventually rose to be the County Marshal. But in 1975, he was convicted of a felony (using deputies for political activities), and he was fired. He lived for another 14 years before dying of a heart attack. His life should be made into a movie, no doubt with Johnny Depp in the starring role! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this insert!
UPDATED 12/02/2022: Note that we have updated the Condition information. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had minor wear on the folds. It had some pinholes, tears, and smudges around the edges, including paper loss in the bottom-right corner that affected the NSS number. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, and displays well, but the restorer made a mistake when recreating the NSS number and put 1959/305 instead of 1954/305! Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
