Date Sold 3/14/2013 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 7 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Miracles of the Jungle, the 1921 James Conway & E.A. Martin silent wild animal action serial ("The Super Wonder Film Animal serial in 15 Episodes"; "The wonder animal chapter drama") starring Al Ferguson, Ben Hagerty, Irene Wallace, Wilbur Higby, and Frederick Peters. Note that Selig Studios (officially the Selig Polyscope Company) had been one of the very first movie studios. This movie was their very last production, but it was distributed by the fledgling Warner Bros. studios, who just a few years later would become one of the dominant studios in Hollywood! Note that this is a "lost" serial which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Important Added Info: Note that one of the stills has "Miracles of the Jungle 1921" written in pencil on the back, which is how we know it is from this serial. We have seen all of the chapter posters from this serial, and it takes place entirely in a jungle, and there is a leopard that plays a prominent role in the movie. Therefore it seems extremely likely that these stills are candids from a promotional tour that was taken where a woman (perhaps a star of the movie, or perhaps an animal trainer) went around in a really cool Nash car with a leopard that she held on a chain, and showed to people in various wonderful poses! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. Note that there are white areas in or near the corners that look like they COULD be a defect of some sort, but they are NOT. They exist on stills from silent films that have this sort of black border around the edges. It appears that stills of this sort were made by actually blowing up a negative, and perhaps those white areas are something in the actual edge of the film, but in any event, they are contained within the printing and are not any sort of defect!
