An Original Vintage Folded Circus Show Door Panel Poster (measures 20 1/2" x 54 3/4") (Learn More)

Col. Tim McCoy's Real Wild West and Rough Riders of the World, the 1938 cowboy western stage show ("See 'Dohoes' The Wonder Horse Marvel of Equine Perfection"; "Dr. Ostermaier & 'Dohoes'"). Note that Tim McCoy was one of Columbia's two very top western stars of the early 1930s (along with Buck Jones). But after 32 movies for Columbia in the 1930s, McCoy left Columbia in 1936, and signed with Sam Katzman of tiny Puritan Pictures. In 1938, McCoy had the idea to revive the "Wild West" shows which had been so popular in the early 1900s, and which he had seen as a boy. These shows would have real former cowboys and Indians, and attempt to show the audiences what the real wild west had been like, in a circus-like environment. But McCoy had misjudged the interest of the American public, and after touring for just 21 days, he disbanded the Wild West show, and returned to Hollywood and made a long series of westerns for small studios like Victory, PRC, and Monogram. Given that this Wild West show existed for such a short time, I would think this poster is likely quite uncommon, and difficult to find! If anyone knows more about this poster or this Wild West show, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: good to very good. The poster has three horizontal folds with creases along all three foldlines. There are some pinholes, creases, tears, and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. After a simple linenbacking by a talented professional, this poster will look fantastic!
