He loved it! He took it raw in big gulpfuls... He liked the taste, the way it mixed with the bourbon and the sin in his blood!"; "I'm not just an entertainer... I'm a force, a power!"; "Power! He took it raw like his bourbon and his sin!"; "No picture has ever dared hit so close to home!"; "...and you and me [whom he privately calls slobs] we not only let him in our houses once a week...we [slobs] we do whatever he tells us!"; "'I'm not just an entertainer...I'm a force, a power..!'"; "Story and Screen Play by Budd Schulberg"; "Songs by Tom Glazer and Budd Schulberg"; about a poor Southern man who is discovered by a TV agent and becomes very powerful thanks to his folksy appeal, but it is all a front, and he falls as quickly as he rose) starring Andy Griffith (as Lonesome Rhodes), Patricia Neal (as Marcia Jeffries), Anthony Franciosa (as Joey DePalma), Walter Matthau (as Mel Miller; in his fourth movie role!), Lee Remick (as Betty Lou Fleckum), Percy Waram (as General Haynesworth), Rod Brasfield (as Beanie), Marshall Neilan, Charles Irving, Howard Smith, Paul McGrath, Kay Medford, Alexander Kirkland, and Charles Nelson Reilly NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that one or more of these stills has an image of artwork created specifically for this movie. Such stills are far more rare than stills which show scenes from the movie! Note that these stills appear in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right of each still. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the stills were printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that they WERE printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So they are original stills from 1957, but they were printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
