An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 6" x 6" [15 x 15 cm] when folded; 4 pages) (Learn More)

Whom the Gods Destroy, the 1934 Walter Lang family relationship shipwreck seafaring disaster melodrama ("From the story by Albert Payson Terhune - Adaptation by Fred Niblo, Jr."; a very thought provoking story of a very successful Broadway producer who has a grown son he has groomed to be his successor, but when the father is on a cruise ship that sinks, he is a coward and wears women's clothes so that he is rescued, but he is rescued by villagers who don't know who he is, and he is declared dead, and keeps it that way, so that his cowardice is not revealed, and he returns to New York, where he learns he was made a hero, so he stays "dead", but when his son's show is failing, he pretends to be a "friend" of his son's father, and the son doesn't recognize him, and he helps save the show, but then his wife sees him and recognizes him, but agrees to let him keep remaining "dead" for the sake of their son, who doesn't know his father is not a hero, but a coward) starring Walter Connolly, Robert Young, Doris Kenyon, Scotty Beckett, Rollo Lloyd, and Akim Tamiroff. Note that this is a completely forgotten film, but it deserves to be revived and seen! It was based on a story by Albert Payson Terhune, best known for having authored the "Lad: A Dog" stories.
