Date Sold 12/23/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style A Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Affectionately Yours, the 1941 Lloyd Bacon newspaper journalism post-divorce romantic love quadrangle comedy ("From the story by Fanya Foss and Aleen Leslie"; about an international reporter who has affairs wherever he goes, but when he is having an affair with a Spanish woman, his wife contacts him that she has met someone else and is divorcing him, and he heads back home to try to rescue his marriage, but the Spanish lady follows him!) starring Merle Oberon, Dennis Morgan, Rita Hayworth, Ralph Bellamy, George Tobias, James Gleason, Hattie McDaniel, and Jerome Cowan. Note that it is ironic that in this movie Rita Hayworth plays a Spanish woman, because Harry Cohn spent a fortune at Columbia disguising that she was Spanish! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: good. The poster was never folded. It has darkened somewhat (typical of Warner Brothers posters printed on a "linen" paper during this time period) and there are several tears of varying lengths around the edges (which are slightly fragile). Many of the tears or other defects as described above have been repaired with several pieces of conservation or other tape from the back. There are creases scattered throughout and there is some paper loss at lower right. After proper restoration the very rare poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it. Learn More about condition grades
