He acted primarily on the stage but had occasional film roles over many decades, and is widely considered one of the finest Shakespearean actors ever! Some of his movies include: Arthur (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Romeo & Juliet (1954), Becket (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), and Gandhi.
