An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" [19 x 24 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Helene Chadwick was an actress from the 1910s to the 1930s. She was William Wellman's first wife from 1921 to 1933. Her career faltered after the advent of sound, but many directors hired her as an extra in the 1930s, for old time's sake (including former husband Wellman, who put her in his 1937 "A Star is Born"). Some of her movies include: The Long Arm of the Manister, Heartsease, Godless Men, and A Star Is Born. Sadly, Chadwick died in 1940 at the age of 42 after a fall. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Helene Chadwick! Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a Bonham's auction in 2017 that included a collection of memorabilia consigned by William Wellman, Jr. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to surely be authentic. Also note that this still measures 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" [19 x 24 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Finally, note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
