Date Sold 10/23/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A 1961 Re-Release Theatrical Folded East German "A1" Movie Poster (measures 22 1/2" x 32" [57 x 81 cm]) (Learn More) Titanic, the 1943 Werner Klingler & Herbert Selpin German cruise ship disaster thriller (there were two movies made about the real life disaster shortly after it happened in 1912, and then there was a 1929 highly fictionalized film, and this movie was the very next one; since it was made in Nazi Germany, there was a lot of anti-English sentiment, and the movie proved so depressing that it was pulled out of theaters shortly after it was released!) starring Sybille Schmitz, Hans Nielsen, Ernst Fritz Furbringer, Kirsten Heiberg, Monika Burg, Karl Schonbock, Charlotte Thiele, Otto Wernicke, Franz Schafheitlin, Sepp Rist, Lieselott Klingler, Theo Schall, Karl Meixner, Theodor Loos, Hermann Brix (NOT Bruce Bennett, whose actual name was Herman with one "n" Brix!; note that Bruce Bennett acted under his real name of Herman Brix until 1938, and then changed it to "Bruce Bennett", no doubt due to THIS Hermann Brix, who started acting in 1939), Fritz Bottger, Walter Steinbeck, G.H. Schnell, Werner Scharf, Karl Fochler, Peter Elsholtz, Aruth Wartan, Hans Schwarz jr., Toni v. Bukovics, Heinz Welzel, Herbert Gernot, Karl Dannemann, Erich Stelmecke, Charlotte Tiedemann, Jolly Maree, Fritz Genschow, Walter Steinweg, Just Scheu, and Hans Leibelt. Note that the recent discovery that the Titanic broke into three pieces and not two casts severe doubt on the sequence of events of the sinking as portrayed in this movie and several others. It now seems far more likely that the ship sank in a very short period of time, and that the passengers had little chance to perform any of the things they are shown doing in the various movie adaptations of this tragic event! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good.
