It was founded in 1955 in what was East Berlin, as a counterpart of the famous Berlin Zoological Garden in West Berlin. Tierpark Berlin is located in Friedrichsfelde on the former grounds of Friedrichsfelde Palace, which is situated within the zoo. It is the largest zoo in Europe, and features over 8000 animals (from 650 species) on 160 hectares. Artist: Grohmann Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a wonderful collection of 30 German zoo posters we were consigned, and are currently auctioning in 30 separate auctions! Twenty-six of the posters are from the Tierpark Berlin Zoo and four of the posters are from Zoo Berlin. Over the last two years we auctioned several other collections of similar zoo posters (from different consignors) and the previous collections mostly auctioned for prices between $100 and $300 per poster. This is a great opportunity to purchase any or all of these excellent posters which will look fantastic displayed on the wall! Note that we were able to date some of these exactly and some we had to guess at. If anyone knows the exact dates of the ones we did not date exactly, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
