An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Dracula, the classic 1931 Tod Browning Universal vampire monster horror thriller ("The Greatest of all Horror Thrillers"; "The Vampire Thriller!"; "The story of the strangest passion the world has ever known!"; "Do vampires really exist?"; "From the famous novel & play by Bram Stoker") starring Bela Lugosi (in the title role as Count Dracula), David Manners, Helen Chandler, Dwight Frye (if there had been a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award in 1931, Frye would have surely won it for his wild over-the-top portrayal as Renfield!), Edward Van Sloan (as Professor Abraham Van Helsing), Frances Dade, and Herbert Bunston NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that there was a "find" of more than one set of Dracula lobby cards in the mid 1990s, but those cards were quickly snapped up by collectors. We had not auctioned a 1931 Dracula lobby card in the past 19 years, but then in June of 2017, we were consigned an example of this card, and it auctioned for $6,750. THAT caused another consignor who owned a different example of this card to decide to let us auction his, so now we have a different example of the card we auctioned in June (but still only the second first release Dracula card we have auctioned in the past 19 years!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card was in nice condition, except that it had a tiny pinhole near the center (in the man's shoulder) and tiny pinholes in each corner and near the center of each border. It also had a brown dot stain in the left of the top border, with a small brown stain near it. It had some small brown stains in the top left background area and one small brown stain in the man's shoulder beneath that area. It had a few tiny brown stains in the borders, one in the man's cheek by his sideburn and one in the background to the right of the girl. Many years ago, some early restorer performed slight restoration to the pinholes, but they did not attempt to address the small brown stains. Other than the stains and the slight pinhole restoration, the card is in nice condition, and it is not at all fragile. I would think many collectors could live with the small brown stains, or possibly, one could choose to have additional restoration performed, but it might well require touch up paint on the tiny brown stains. Please look closely at our super-sized images and bear all of the above in mind before bidding on this rare lobby card! Learn More about condition grades
