An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian One-Panel Movie Poster (measures approximately 39" x 55") (Learn More) Ladri di Biciclette (released in the U.S. in 1949 as "The Bicycle Thief" and in England as "Bicycle Thieves"), the classic 1948 Vittorio De Sica Italian neorealist melodrama ("Academy Award outstanding foreign language film 1949"; about a man and his son who search for a vital missing bicycle; most people rightfully consider this one of the handful of absolute finest movies ever made!) starring Lamberto Maggiorani, Enzo Staiola, Lianella Carell, Gino Saltamerenda, and Vittorio Antonucci. Note that the Italian title literally translates to "The Bicycle Thieves", but for unknown reasons, the movie became "The Bicycle Thief" when it was released in English-speaking countries! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Ercole Brini Important Added Info: Note that this the very rare first release "country of origin" poster for this Italian movie! Shortly after it was released, the poster deservedly won numerous international awards, and new posters were created with the awards listed. Also note that this Italian one-panel measures approximately 39" x 55" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good to fine. The poster had tiny paper loss at a few crossfolds, separation and minute paper loss in the left of the bottom foldline (mostly in the blank white area above the left of the title), and very minor wear on the other foldlines. There were a few minor creases in the image area, and a few minor border defects. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed (it really required next-to-no restoration at all), and looks great! Learn More about condition grades
