An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 17") (Learn More) Zane Grey's The Water Hole, the 1928 F. Richard Jones silent romantic love triangle melodrama (based on the story by Zane Grey; about a daughter of a wealthy East Coast banker who meets an Arizona cowboy, and she leads him on, and he proposes, and she refuses, and when he goes back to Arizona, she talks her father into following him, and together they find him, where her father lets the cowboy "kidnap" her, so she will learn how tough life can be, but they end up stranded, and have to hike across a desert, and almost die of thirst, and she ends up "kidnapping" him back to the East Coast) starring Jack Holt, Nancy Carroll, John Boles, C. Montague Shaw, and Ann Christy. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that original 1928 movie paper of ANY kind from this Zane Grey silent movie is exceptionally rare. Perhaps it is because the movie was one of the last silents, and might have received somewhat limited distribution. In any event, prior to auctioning this window card, we have only ever auctioned one single 8" x 10" still from this movie, plus another example of this window card, in all the years we have been auctioning! The window card originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this was commonly done with window cards, when the top had been left blank, or when someone had hand-scrawled play date information in that area). Most collectors do not consider it to be a significant defect at all, since only blank white paper is lost, and the window card becomes easier to frame. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: very good. The top was neatly trimmed off and there are some scuff marks scattered in the solid dark rock areas and creases and smudges around the edges of the card. Learn More about condition grades
