Date Sold 8/30/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) Death on the Diamond, the 1934 Edward Sedgwick St. Louis Cardinals baseball championship sports sabotage crime mystery thriller ("Love finds a way-to Solve the Most Baffling Mystery in Sports History!"; a wacky story of a new pitcher arriving at the St. Louis Cardinals, who is supposed to lead them to winning the World Series, except then somebody starts killing the players one by one!) starring Robert Young, Madge Evans, Nat Pendleton, C. Henry Gordon, Ted Healy (most famous as the person who started The Three Stooges; they were first billed as "Ted Healy and his Stooges"; he let them go on their own, hiring replacement "Stooges", but that did not work out well at all!), and Joe Sawyer. Note that although the team in the movie is the St. Louis Cardinals, the actual baseball scenes were filmed at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles (not the one in Chicago, but the one in Los Angeles where Chicago's minor league team played!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the card measures very slightly under 14" x 22" (an extremely tiny amount in each direction!) and has no left, right, or bottom blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible). Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The blank top of the poster had been trimmed off and the card was roughly folded across the middle of the image. There were many creases and tiny tears across that fold. There were some faint water stains scattered throughout the card, but they are most evident in the stars' faces at top right. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer did not address the faint water staining in the stars' faces at top right. Learn More about condition grades
