Date Sold 8/27/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Movie Poster (measures 39 1/4" x 54" [100 x 137 cm]) (Learn More) L'Appuntamento di Kri-Kri (released in England as "Bloomer's Rendez-vous"), the 1914 Italian silent military slapstick romantic comedy short starring Raymond Dandy (in the title role as Kri Kri), and Giuseppe Gambardella. Note that Romeo Marchetti (who created the Italian art for Kri Kri films) was well known in the first half of the 20th century, and he founded and contributed to multiple satirical magazines and newspapers. The Societa Italiana Cines (often known simply as Cines) was an Italian film company specializing in production and distribution of films which was founded in 1906. Artist: Romeo Marchetti Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare "country of origin" poster from before World War II that we have never auctioned before! Virtually no Italian posters survive from before World War II since apparently there were many paper shortages in Europe during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all posters from before and World War II, and also from during the war, and the first few years afterwards. Finally, note that it was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. It is roughly the same size as a modern day Italian one-panel, which is printed in one piece, and given that it was printed in two sections, we don't want to call it that (but this probably explains why they are called "2-foglio" in Italy, because they were originally printed in two sections, before they had printing presses able to print them in one section)! Condition: fair to good. The two sections of the poster were once glued together, but since then, it has completely separated at the center horizontal fold where it was glued. There is discoloration throughout that area, and there is slight discoloration scattered throughout the poster (see our image). It is otherwise "mostly all there" and after proper restoration the ultra rare poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
