A Linenbacked French Travel Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 39" [62 x 99 cm]) (Learn More) The Fabre Line (or Compagnie Francaise de Navigation a Vapeur Cyprien Fabre & Compagnie) was a French shipping line formed in 1881. In June 1911, Fabre Line steamships began trans-Atlantic service to India Point in Providence, Rhode Island, and between 1912 and 1913, the company brought almost 12,000 (mostly Italian and Portuguese) immigrants to Providence's Lonsdale Dock. Tonelli art of a French ship in the middle of an arrow which has a French flag on the tail end and a United States flag at the point of destination! Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this travel poster. The last example has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still only one of two examples we have ever auctioned!
