eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result #A510 MADIGAN'S MILLIONS/FEARLESS FRANK pressbook '70s Date Sold 3/9/2004Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Undated (probably 1970s) Vintage Theatrical Double-Bill Movie Pressbook (measures 11" x 15"; 4 pages). Also included is are 2 ad supplements that have 2 pages each (Learn More) From the 1970 double-bill release of Fearless Frank (also released as "Frank's Greatest Adventure"), the 1967 Philip Kaufman super hero fantasy comedy starring Jon Voight (in the title role as "Fearless Frank"), Monique van Vooren, Severn Darden, Joan Darling, and Lou Gilbert. Note that this was one of two movies Jon Voight appeared in prior to "Midnight Cowboy". One was "Hour of the Gun", where he had a minor role, and the other was this movie, where he was the star. In between those two movies, he had appeared in a bunch of TV episodes. Once "Midnight Cowboy" became a huge success in 1969, the distributors of this forgotten movie re-released it to theaters in 1970, billing Voight as "that star of 'Midnight Cowboy' rides again...", with a giant image of Voight in a super hero costume. Finally, note that while this movie is completely forgotten, both Jon Voight and director Philip Kaufman went on to long distinguished careers! AND El Millon de Madigan (released in the U.S. in 1970, after Hoffman's great success in "The Graduate", as "Madigan's Millions"), the 1968 Stanley Prager/Giorgio Gentili Spanish/Italian/U.S. detective crime comedy ("The most incredible new comedy ever laughed at!"; "'Super Sleuth'") starring Dustin Hoffman ("in a Hilarious Post-'Graduate' role..."), Elsa Martinelli, Cesar Romero ("as Madigan"), Gustavo Rojo, and Fernando Hilbeck. Note that a knowledgeable collector tells us that, while this film was released after "The Graduate", it was actually filmed before that classic movie and this was Hoffman's second role. This low-budget film was quickly picked up by an American distributor to cash in on the newfound fame of Hoffman. Also, Stanley Prager is usually credited as the sole director on U.S. items while Giorgio Gentili (billed as "Dan Ash") is listed as the sole director on Italian items. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that when studios would prepare pressbooks they would often include a sample of the herald. Most often, the herald is no longer still with the pressbook. Sometimes, the herald by itself will sell for almost as much as the rest of the entire pressbook! This pressbook contains the original herald which is pictured next to the pressbook below. Note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Almost every Academy Award winning movie would have a special "Academy Award winner" supplement. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
