An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 29 1/4" x 43 1/2" [74 x 110 cm]) (Learn More) The Young Philadelphians (released in other English-speaking countries as "The City Jungle"), the 1959 Vincent Sherman Pennsylvania courtroom lawyer legal sex-and-murder melodrama ("When you rip the upper crust off any city you'll find raw flesh underneath. This is Tony Lawrence, from a nice family, on the night he decided that nice guys finish last. This is Warner Bros'. Stark story of the angry young moderns of today."; "Who and why and what the devil am I? He fumed... And when the answers didn't come there was always one place he could go..."; "All the boldness of the smashing best seller!"; "HONEY - the night she found a new thrill KATE - the night she married someone else TONY - the night he learned of his mother's shame CAROL - the night she left her husband CHET - the night he was booked for murder"; "The big, hot, bold motion picture that touches every raw nerve of the angry young moderns of today!"; "From the smashing best-seller that tore a city's upper-crust to bare the raw flesh underneath!"; "From the explosive best-seller that took dead aim at Philadelphia and hits almost every town in the land!"; "From the novel 'The Philadelphian' by Richard Powell") starring Paul Newman ("as Tony Lawrence, one of 'The Young Philadelphians'"), Barbara Rush, Alexis Smith, Brian Keith, Diane Brewster, Billie Burke, John Williams, Adam West, Richard Deacon (in a really memorable courtroom scene as an obnoxious "gentleman's gentleman"), and Robert Vaughn (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as the friend that Newman is protecting!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny scuffs and tiny bits of paper loss scattered on the vertical foldline, with a lesser amount of wear on the horizontal folds. It had pinholes in the corners. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
