An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Mickey's Whirlwind, the 1930 Albert Herman juvenile comedy short ("Mickey's Whirlwind from Fontaine Fox's famous cartoons") starring Mickey Rooney (billed as "Mickey McGuire [Himself]"), Delia Bogard, Billy Barty, and Kendall McComas. Also note that this is the very second earliest "basketball" movie we have seen a poster from (we don't know that this short has much to do with basketball, but the one-sheet has a wonderful image of Mickey Rooney being tossed into the basketball goal). We do know that there were very few movies with a basketball plot prior to this one (we know of two that came out in 1927). Also note that this is one of 50 "Mickey McGuire" shorts that Mickey Rooney starred in between 1927 and 1933 (he started when he was only six years old!). After 1933, he had a brief "lull" in his career, but he soon resurfaced as a top teen actor, and it was not long before he moved to the top of the box office in his roles in MGM movies, both in the Andy Hardy series, and in musicals with Judy Garland. The poster had tears and areas of paper loss in the top horizontal fold and in the vertical fold below the top crossfold. The other two horizontal folds and the top quarter of the vertical fold had little tears. There were tears and areas of paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
