An Original Vintage Theatrical Italian Movie Lobby Card (Italian LC; measures 13 1/4" x 19" [34 x 48 cm]) (Learn More) Sentinelle Di Bronzo (released in English-speaking countries as "Sentinels of Bronze"), the 1937 Romolo Marcellini Italian Italians-in-Somalia Africa colonial war melodrama (about an Italian outpost in Somalia that is attacked by a large number of Abyssinian troops, but the Italians refused to surrender, based on a real life incident called the "Wal Wal" incident) starring Fosco Giachetti, Giovanni Grasso, Doris Duranti, Hassan Mohamed, and Mohamed Aghi Ali. Note that at the beginning of World War II, the Italian fascists ordered the film industry to make propaganda films glorifying Italians, and this was one of many such movies. Note that it bears great similarities to the well known English movie, Zulu! Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" lobby card for this Italian movie! Note that this is an extremely rare Italian lobby card from the first release of this movie in 1937, which we have only auctioned once before (and that example has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still the only example we have ever auctioned). Italian lobby cards from before World War II are on a heavyweight paper and they have a "tipped-in" black & white still. They are extremely rare due to paper shortages in Italy during World War II. It was not until after World War II that Italian distributors switched to "photobustas", which resemble lobby cards, but which are on a much thinner paper, and which often measure larger than the earlier Italian lobby cards.
