Shag is an internationally acclaimed painter, designer, and illustrator who is based in Southern California, and he creates art on all subjects, but with a distinctive colorful retro style. For the past decade, there has been The Shag Store in Palm Springs, which solely sells his prints, many of which sell for very large amounts of money. Each of the prints in the Shag's Universal Monsters folio is screen-printed and measures 18" x 24", with two of the prints forming a panoramic image. There are only 150 Standard Edition folios (which originally sold for $1200) and 50 Variant Edition folios (which originally sold for $1900), and each comes in a special box with a Certificate of Authenticity. Artist: Shag Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by the artist, Shag, and hand-numbered 26/150! It is one of ten different prints (all numbered 26 of 150) from a "standard edition" Universal Monsters 10 print folio which was published by Dark Hall Mansion in 2013. Each of the 150 folios originally sold for $1,200, but our consignor, who purchased it in 2013, wants us to auction the 10 prints separately, so that those who were unable to purchase an entire folio in 2013 can now acquire the individual print of their choice (we have seen recent sales for many of these prints for around $300 each, or more). As noted above, the folio originally came in a special printed box with a certificate of authenticity, and our consignor has told us that we should send the box and the certificate to the person who purchases the most of the 10 prints (of course, if two people were to each purchase the same number, like say, 5 each, then we would have to flip a coin to see who gets the box and the certificate).
