Date Sold 8/16/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Go West, the 1925 Buster Keaton silent cowboy western comedy ("The Laugh-Buster!"; about a man from a small town who goes to New York City, but is quickly disillusioned, and he gets on a train going west, and he falls off the train in a western town, where he surprisingly becomes a successful cowhand, and ends up alone on a train with 1,000 cows) starring Buster Keaton, Howard Truesdale, Kathleen Myers, Ray Thompson, Brown Eyes (the cow), and Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle (in an uncredited role as a woman!). Buster Keaton knew that a lot of the success of this movie would depend on his personal relationship with "his Pal of the Plains", Brown Eyes the cow, and so he personally "trained" her, to build up their chemistry. The production was halted for two weeks when Brown Eyes went in heat and was unavailable to work, and she was paid $13 a week and received billing! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1925 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a different scene lobby card from this movie (and it auctioned for $1,251!) until we received this lobby card, and we have never auctioned any posters! Note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. The card had a few tiny tears in the bottom border and tiny paper loss in two blank corners. It had some smudges around the edges and a small brown stain in the lower left and lower right borders. It had smudges in the blue sky background areas and some in Keaton's red shirt and also in his shirt in the border area. Someone left all the border defects as they were, but they put touch up paint on the sky background and clothes described above (see our image). You can clearly see that there is touch up paint in those areas, but otherwise, the card displays well. Obviously, one could choose to have additional restoration performed, or display this really rare card as it is. Learn More about condition grades
