McGowan & Armand Schaefer railroad train crime adventure thriller serial ("A Thriller of the Roaring Rails in twelve crashing episodes"; "In 12 thrilling chapters") starring John Wayne, Shirley Gray, Conway Tearle, Tully Marshall, Matthew Betz (billed as "Mathew Betz"), Edmund Breese, James Burtis, Joseph Girard, Lloyd Whitlock, , J. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is undated, but we know that the first release posters were all full-color. We have seen other Mascot re-releases for other serials that date from the late 1930s through the mid 1940s, so we think this is surely from that time. It might be from 1939, when John Wayne had his great success in "Stagecoach". If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and some small bits of paper loss on parts of some folds, with pinholes, darkening, stains, and some tiny paper loss around the edges. The bottom right corner had paper loss in the background area with a brown stain by it that extended to the right border, and there are brown stains in the girl's cheek that go through her hair, and also brown stains in the Mascot emblem that go into the right blank border. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
