A1949 Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Prince and the Pauper, the 1937 William Keighley historical England mistaken identity adventure melodrama ("At last it's on the screen!""See the Mauch Twins in Mark Twain's immortal 'The Prince and the Pauper' now playing in New York Strand"; "It's a Warner Bros. show"; "Read their amazing true story in this month's The American Magazine on sale at all newsstands May 14th"; "Mark Twain's best loved story"; from the novel by Mark Twain) starring Errol Flynn, Claude Rains, Henry Stephenson, Barton MacLane, Billy & Bobby Mauch (billed together as "The Mauch Twins"), Eric Portman, Montagu Love (as Henry VIII), and Joan Valerie NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that, while this is a re-issue poster, it has a really wonderful image of Errol Flynn, capturing exactly the quality he had that charmed so many millions of women (and made so many men want to be like him)! Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and it had defects which were repaired during the linenbacking process (which we describe below, as well as the quality of the restoration, if I thought there was something about the restoration worth commenting on!). You should also look at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). the image area of the poster was in quite nice condition. The poster was somewhat tattered in the blank borders, and the person who restored the poster chose to paint over most of the blank white areas, so as to "even them out". While it gives the poster more restoration than I like, I do have to admit that it works, and that the restoration is not very noticeable (and it is only blank white paper that has been painted over).
