Svengali (released in Germany as "Trilby"), the 1931 Archie Mayo hypnotism mind control romantic love triangle fantasy melodrama ("Based on the novel by George Louis Du Maurier") starring John Barrymore (in the title role as Svengali), Marian Marsh (as Trilby O'Farrell), Donald Crisp, Bramwell Fletcher, and Carmel Myers. Note that leading lady Marian Marsh was just 17 years old when this movie was made (John Barrymore had a habit of having extremely young female co-stars).
