An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Mexican Movie Poster (measures 27 3/4" x 37 1/4" [70 x 95 cm]) (Learn More) El Fanfarron (literally translates to "The Boastful"), the 1940 Fernando A. Rivero Mexican romantic cowboy western (about an outlaw and farmer who eventually become friends and brothers-in-law) starring Jorge Negrete, Maria Luisa Zea, Magda Haller, Emilio Fernandez, and Armando Soto La Marina (billed as "Chicote"). There is much confusing and conflicting information about this movie! It appears that it was made in 1938, but was released in the U.S. in 1940, and then finally had its first Mexican release in 1943. Apparently, its original title in 1938 was "Aqui llego el valenton", and its 1940 U.S. title was "El Fanfarron", and we have once auctioned a Mexican poster from that 1940 U.S. release (it has Los Angeles distributor information printed in the lower right). If any posters were created prior to that one, we have never seen them, and we have also never seen any posters from the 1943 Mexican release. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Mexican poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this Mexican movie (it is the poster referred to in the description above as the poster we have "once auctioned"). It certainly has a wonderful image! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has darkened slightly in the outer edges of three borders and is somewhat fragile in those areas, which has caused two tears in the blank borders and one tiny bit of paper loss. After a simple linenbacking, this incredibly rare poster will display wonderfully. Note that the poster has a printing defect that caused white lines near the middle of the "FAN" of the title. One might choose to leave that as it is, or certainly, it would be very easy for a restorer to touch up that area. Learn More about condition grades
