An Original Vintage Comic Book (measures approximately 7 1/8" x 10 1/4") (Learn More) Shock SuspenStories was part of the E.C. Comics line in the early 1950s. This comic was published by Bill Gaines (William Gaines) through his company, EC Comics (E.C. Comics), which he inherited from his father in 1947. The bi-monthly comic, edited by Al Feldstein, began in February of 1952. Over a four-year span, it ran for 18 issues, ending with the December/January 1955 issue. This title was a special experiment! Each issue contained one story each from EC's main genres (horror, science fiction, crime, and war). The idea was that people who only bought horror would want this one too, because it contained a horror story, but at the same time, it would expose them to the other genres, which did not sell nearly as well as the horror comics. This was one of many EC comic titles published by Bill Gaines (later publisher of Mad Magazine). Since the ending of publication, all of the EC comics have been reprinted many, many times, in many formats, and there have been several movies and TV series based on them!
