An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian One-Panel (known in Italy as a "2 Fogli") Movie Poster (1p; measures 39" x 55" [99 x 140 cm]) (Learn More)

Story of a Love Story, the 1973 John Frankenheimer Italian/French romantic love triangle melodrama (based on the book "The Impossible Object" by Nicholas Mosely) starring Alan Bates, Dominique Sanda, Michel Auclair, Evans Evans, Paul Crauchet, and Lea Massari. This movie was a troubled production, and it had a limited release in Italy and France only in 1973, and then a limited release in Spain and Portugal in 1978 and 1982, but didn't play in any other countries at all. Reading reviews of it, it is easy to see what went wrong. Despite having top talent involved on every level (including music by Michel Legrand and cinematography by Claude Renoir), the story just doesn't "work", because you don't care very much about any of the characters (apparently, especially "Evans Evans", who was Mrs. Frankenheimer at the time). The film has a "new wave" feel to it, with many fantasy sequences mixed in with reality, and it is hard to know what is real and what is fantasy. The more charitable reviews say that it is an "interesting failure"!
