Note that this movie was made at the end of Montgomery Clift's life, years after his tragic car accident that disfigured him and got him hooked on pain medicine. He did not want to make this movie, but was told that if he did, he could star in Reflections in a Golden Eye for John Huston, so he agreed to make this movie, but he passed away after it was made, and Marlon Brando starred in Reflections in a Golden Eye.
