The monster has been portrayed by actors Boris Karloff, Glenn Strange, Lon Chaney Jr., Christopher Lee, Robert De Niro, and many others Important Added Info: Note that this book was published simultaneously by Gibbings & Company in London and J.P. Lippincott in Philadelphia in 1897. This particular copy was published by J. Miller and Sons, Printers, Edinburgh, as seen on the page facing the introduction. Someone wrote "1st illustrated edition" on the first interior blank page, and there is a bookplate on the inside front cover indicating the book was from the library of William Arnold Churchill. There is no dust jacket. The spine is detached from the cover on the right side, and there is loss at the top and bottom of the spine, but solely in the blank area.
