Sinclair romantic love triangle crime thriller ("New Triumph by the Author of 'Goodbye, Mr. Chips!'"; "Screenplay by Christopher Isherwood and Robert Thoeren"; "Based on the novel by James Hilton"; a strange story of a secretary to a rich woman; she starts going out with the woman's son, who previously was in a mental institution; he encourages her to go out with his friend, and yet he still marries her, and then he takes over his deceased father's business and starts running it into the ground, apparently slipping into insanity) starring Robert Montgomery, Ingrid Bergman, George Sanders, Lucile Watson, and Oscar Homolka. Note that Ingrid Bergman said that Robert Montgomery did not want to make this movie, but that MGM ordered him to, and that he purposely gave a poor performance, and that George Sanders was completely disinterested in the movie and spent most of his time between scenes sleeping!
